Marist School is the first private school in the City of Marikina to host the Fire Square Road Show of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – National Capital Region (NCR) and the City Government of Marikina.

Br. Niño Pizarro, FMS, Marist School President, hailed the BFP for choosing Marist School to launch the Fire Square Road Show considering the significance of fire safety and protection awareness to everyone, especially to children like Marist grade school pupils and high school students. He said that the Road Show supplements classroom instruction, emergency drills, and emergency awareness and preparedness campaign that Marist School conducts regularly.

The Fire Square Road Show was launched today, Monday, November 25, 2019, 8:00 a.m. at the Marist School HS Covered Court with a simple program participated in by BFP and Marikina City officials and guests headed by Col. Damian Rejano, BFP-NCR Assistant Regional Director; Col. Jun Calla, BFP Chief Inspector; Mr. Ponchie E. Santos, Jr., Marikina City Tourism and Cultural Officer who represented the Mayor of Marikina, Mayor Marcelino Teodoro; and Col. Jose B. Callos, Jr., BFP Superintendent and City Fire Marshal.

The Fire Square Road Show is a fire prevention education and emergency response program of the BFP that imparts awareness, preparedness, risk reduction, and survival techniques especially for children who are most vulnerable in times of disaster. It is a demonstration of interactive approaches to different fire management techniques such as bandaging and splinting, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, firefighting technique, fire house escape, ropemanship and knot-tying, rappelling and other safety emergency practices.
