Marist celebrates Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with online festivities

8 SEPTEMBER 2020–As part of Marist School’s celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a series of activities were streamed online through social media.

A Eucharistic celebration was held in the Chapel of the Magnificat, presided by school alumnus Rev. Fr. Antonio Gerarado Sanchez. In his homily, he reminded how praying the Rosary is part of the Marist identity as it makes present the graces of Christ through Mary.

Meanwhile, an appreciation for the school retirees followed the mass. Ms. Gandalyn Galapon, a library clerk for 28 years, received the salutation for the group.

Other retirees include school nurse Ms. Ory Valino and office secretary Ms. Lolita Dagohoy. Also recognized was Ms. WIlhelmina Tan, who served as the secretary of the Marist College Incorporators and Board of Trustees.

Officers of the Marist School Marikina Alumni Association were also present to offer flowers to the Virgin Mary.

Ending the festivities was a streamed reflection session with Br. Sean Sammon, FMS, who talked about how Mary has made an impact to the life of Marcellin and how it should pursue in the present times.

Classes were suspended for the day to allow the community to take part in the online activities.
