Magkakalayo Ngunit Hindi Magkakawalay

Marist Alumni of Batch 96 have issued a press release of their first-ever online Alumni Homecoming event. Titled “Magkakalayo Ngunit Hindi Magkakawalay (Distanced but not Apart),” the homecoming promises to be a global gathering of Marist School Marikina alumni/alumnae.  The batch’s statement reads:

The First Virtual Alumni Homecoming of Marist School Marikina will happen this September 8 and 11, 2021.  All activities will be livestreamed at the Marist website and Facebook page – allowing members of our beloved Marist community to come together online despite being scattered all over the world, and being restricted to gather physically because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main event will happen on Marist Day itself,  September 8, 2021 (Wednesday, 10am).   The Online Holy Mass for the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be celebrated by Fr. Johnpaul Dean Menchavez ’98.

The Mass will be immediately followed by The Living Rosary, a time-honored Marist tradition, and will be led by Marist President, Br. Allan De Castro, FMS; Marist Faculty past and present; Marist alumni from different batches; and the Marist School Marikina Alumni Association under president, Coco Madrasto ’94.

The Online Mass and Living Rosary will be replayed the following Saturday, September 11 at 6 pm, preceding a simple but meaningful Virtual Alumni Homecoming Program prepared by Batch 96 at 8 pm.  Right after, all Maristas are encouraged to celebrate and have fun at home while listening to 80s and 90s beats powered by one of the most renowned club DJ’s in Manila – DJ Marlon!  There will be also be raffle prizes and surprises.

The 2021 Virtual Alumni Homecoming is hosted by this year’s Silver Jubilarians, Batch 96.  They are currently accepting donations for these events and for their chosen causes like the Marist personnel whose incomes were negatively affected by the pandemic; the Marist Afternoon Shift Program; and for the improvement of the Marist HS Covered Court Stage Lights and System.
